About this sight

The Kunsthistorisches Museum on Maria-Theresien-Platz opened in 1891 and mirrors the Natural History Museum opposite. Both buildings were designed in Neo-Renaissance style by Gottfried Semper and Carl von Hasenauer. Its collections originate largely with the Habsburgs: the Picture Gallery, Egyptian and Near Eastern Collection, Collection of Greek and Roman Antiquities, Kunstkammer with Cellini's Saliera, and the Coin Cabinet. The Picture Gallery holds the world's largest Bruegel collection, with twelve panels including „The Peasant Wedding" and „Hunters in the Snow".

Visiting

Open Tuesday to Sunday, with late opening on Thursdays in most periods. Ticketed, online booking advisable.

Location: 7th district (Neubau). MuseumsQuartier, Spittelberg, concept stores. The district of Vienna's creatives.
