Classic Viennese four-star on the Danube Canal, traditionally run. The Danube Canal bike path is right at the door, popular for summer walks. Centre walkable in 15 minutes. Mostly classical clientele, quiet atmosphere, solid amenities. Breakfast has a good reputation.

Location & getting there

Hotel Stephanie is in Leopoldstadt, Vienna's 2nd district, right on the Danube Canal - the canal-side path starts at the door and doubles as a running and strolling route in summer. The old town is about a 15-minute walk across the canal, remarkably central for this price bracket. Leopoldstadt has its own highlights too: the Prater, Karmelitermarkt and the Augarten, all things many visitors miss. The district is well served by metro and tram, and from the airport the CAT or S7 train brings you to Wien Mitte, just a short hop across the canal from the hotel.

Who is it for?

A classic four-star for guests who like things calm and traditional: families appreciate the family rooms and the short walk to the Prater, while older visitors enjoy the dignified atmosphere and a breakfast with a solid reputation. If you arrive by car, the hotel garage (for a fee) is a real plus. From around 135 euros, the rate is fair for a four-star within walking distance of the centre. It's not the right pick if you're after design hotels, rooftop bars and a buzzing scene - for that, Neubau or Mariahilf are better addresses.
